Yesterday, Bubbly Hall, a new food hall in New Albany, celebrated its grand opening. The covered market currently has seven local vendors, two bars, a shop and an art exhibition.

The market space sits in a prominent corner amidst relatively new residential developments in New Albany. There is ample parking at the rear.

Seven vendors are currently open, with an eighth – The Cheesecake Girl – expected to open soon. Various stands, cabin tables, four trays and other types of seats are spread in the market. Even on the busy opening night we were able to find a table to have our meals.

The food hall includes a number of businesses that should be familiar to local diners, such as Hoyo’s Kitchen, a long-running family-run Somali store that also has a stall in the North Market.

We also spotted The Pit BBQ Grille, which has a food truck and stand at North Market Bridge Park. Next to them is Just Chicken, a place focused on fried chicken which is also present in East Market.

We also spotted Fay’s Crepes, which started out as a kiosk in Polaris Fashion Place before opening its own storefront in Easton.

There were also a few new vendors, like Mr. Hummus Grill & Pizza, which does indeed serve a mix of Mediterranean dishes and pizza.

This is the first brick and mortar for Seoul Food on the Go…

…as well as Kiku Sushi.

We tried a few different meals on opening night. My 11 year old naturally gravitated towards fried chicken so he tried the Just Chicken sandwich which came with fries.

And I can’t refuse safari chicken over Somali rice at Hoyo’s Kitchen.

The market also includes a few small bars serving beer, wine and cocktails.

In addition to the regular roster of vendors, Bubbly Hall occasionally hosts lunchtime food trucks on Mondays. There are smaller temporary stalls for market vendors selling produce, jewelry, baked goods, soaps, and other items.

There’s also the Bubbly boutique, with floral designs and handmade gifts.

And throughout the space are well-curated exhibitions by local artists, curated by Sunbear Studios. All works are for sale.

Starting April 21, Bubbly Hall’s regular hours will be Mondays 3-10 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m.-7 p.m. (bars will generally remain open at least one hour after food vendors close. )
