Coffee, pastries and brunch at the Kona Craft Kitchen in Bridge Park

Kona Craft Kitchen got its start just over a year ago in the Bridge Park development in Dublin. Owners Frank and Stacy Leary were inspired by their travels to Hawaii, particularly the kona cafes there, and decided to open their own Columbus Cafe serving coffee, pastries, breakfast, lunch and lunch. dinner.

A year later, the response has been rightly positive. They were even chosen as one of Monthly Columbus‘s Best New Restaurants 2023 (and yours truly has to write his segment)!

Kona’s space is long and well-lit, with a bar in the center, a square table with a small gas fireplace, and seating scattered throughout, including a private room and patios for the warmer months.

Customers entering the space are greeted by display cases with the day’s pastries on display.

Selections rotate, but you’ll typically find everything from scones, sticky rolls and cinnamon rolls to coffee cakes, sweet and savory patties, muffins, cookies, bagels and breads.

Given that the inspiration behind the restaurant was Hawaiian kona coffees, it makes sense that their coffee program is well thought out to showcase the beans. In addition to brewed coffee, you’ll find an expertly executed menu of espresso and cold brew beverages. I can testify to the great cortado.

As well as seasonal specialties such as the brown sugar latte.

From what we sampled of the pastries, they are all very well done. I love a good blueberry galette.

And you can’t argue with the cinnamon roll.

Kona takes a targeted approach to its breakfast menu, featuring 11 sweet and savory items, as well as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

THE Big Island French Toast thick layers of custard slices with fruit, whipped cream, crumbled macadamia nuts and a spiced rum maple syrup.

THE turkey cookie sandwich is a beautiful layering of homemade turkey sausages, a fried egg, white cheddar, marinated fennel, arugula and lemon aioli on a biscuit.

I really enjoyed my breakfast burrito, which uses homemade chicken chorizo, scrambled eggs, queso, potatoes, cilantro, and charred tomato salsa wrapped in a flour tortilla. Filling and very fragrant. And like most breakfast features, it comes with a side of fresh fruit.

THE minced chicken with chorizo is another winner, piling a couple on easy eggs on a root vegetable hash with avocado, crispy hominy, charred tomato salsa, cotija cheese and scallions.

The menu continues with cookies and gravy, steel cut oatmeal, avocado toast, acai bowls, chia seed pudding, and more. And that’s not even getting into brunch cocktails!

It’s also just a highlight of their cafe, bakery and breakfast. Kona Craft Kitchen smartly covers all your bases, including lunch, dinner, and a full bar. They will therefore give you many good reasons to visit at any time of the day!
