Only 2 ingredients and 5 minutes to prepare, the best creamy hemp milk is so quick and easy to prepare! Just mix and enjoy, without straining. Hemp milk is super rich and creamy and can be used on cereal, in cooking or baking, in smoothies, and there is also an option to make hemp cream out of it which is perfect for coffee or sauces creamy!
What does hemp milk taste like? Similar to almond milk, hemp milk is neutral with a slight nutty flavor, but is actually much creamier than almond or soy milk. That’s why it’s one of my favorite non-dairy milks to use in cooking, baking, or in my coffee. Yum!
Not only is it tasty, but hemp milk is very good for you. Hemp hearts are incredibly nutritious. They are high in protein and high in healthy fats and essential amino acids, including omega-3s and omega-6s. They are also an excellent source of vitamin E and minerals, such as potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and iron.
One of the reasons I love making hemp milk is because hemp hearts are naturally very tender, so they’re easily broken down in a blender, no soaking necessary! That’s why they’re such an amazing option for making homemade plant milk that’s completely nut-free.
Simply add hemp hearts and water to a blender, and blend! That’s it. No filter or bag of nut milk is needed as there is no pulp. You can optionally add a little sweetener like agave, maple syrup or sugar, a dash of vanilla, and if you want chocolate hemp milk, just mix in cocoa or cocoa powder.
How to make hemp milk:
The only ingredients you will need are water and hemp hearts. Make sure you are using hemp hearts (which are shelled hemp seeds). Do not use hemp seeds as they will not mix properly. Hemp hearts can be found in the health food section of your grocery store. If your store doesn’t carry them, you can get them at health food stores or on Amazon. You can also add a sweetener of your choice and/or vanilla extract or cocoa powder to your milk if you wish.
The instructions are the same whether you are making hemp milk or hemp cream. Add water and hemp hearts to a blender. You can optionally add sweetener and/or vanilla extract. Mix very well until completely smooth and creamy (I like to mix for at least 2 minutes). Pour into a bottle or container with a lid and store in the refrigerator until use. It should stay fresh for up to 5-7 days or you can freeze it. Shake well before use as milk may settle and separate. Use hemp milk on cereals, in baking, when cooking with coffee or tea, wherever you want!
